Cold Stunned Sea Turtle Lecture and Training

June 8 @ 10:00 am - June 11 @ 11:30 am

The Riverhead Foundation presents a lecture on cold stunned sea turtles, at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge, 340 Smith Road, Shirley, from 10-11:30 a.m. Cold stunning is a condition similar to hypothermia that slows the movements of afflicted sea turtles and causes the animals to get washed ashore. Left unnoticed, it can become fatal so the sooner these animals are found and reported to the Riverhead Foundation, the higher their chance of survival. In addition to the lecture in-field training for those interested in becoming part of our Cold Stunned Sea Turtle Emergency Response Team is held.
