“The History of Jews on Long Island” with Karl Grossman

April 7 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

free

Meet the legendary Karl Grossman – author, longtime syndicated local news columnist, SUNY/ Old Westbury Professor, and of course environment columnist with Fire Island News as he delivers a lecture presentation entitled “The History of Jews on Long Island” at the Plainview Jewish Center on John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor on April 7 . According to Grossman, “the story of how Long Island has become a major center for Jews in the United States is interesting considering the anti-Semitism they have faced in an area where the KKK was extremely active, where in the 1930s Nazis marched at their Camp Siegfried in Yaphank, where racism directed against African-Americans has been intense, and in recent years there’s been extreme bias including violence directed against Latinos.” A similar presentation will be given at the Westhampton Free Library on July 19.
