2nd Annual Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition

Listen to five gifted young string players will vie for the $5000 Grand Prize of the second annual Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition.

 The Competition Finals will be held online and will be streamed free of charge on The Violin Channel’s Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/theviolinchannel/

The program will be hosted by Perry Goldstein, chairman of the Stony Brook University Music Department.  

The finalists, representing top ranked music schools including The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, New England Conservatory and Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel include:

Dongyoung Jake Shim, violin

Maxime Quennesson, cello
Claire Bourg, violin

Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir, cello

Celina Bethoux, violin

Each finalist will perform a work composed by J.S. Bach for unaccompanied string instrument.

The competition was established to honor Dunewood community residents Lillian and Maurice Barbash for their life-long commitment to the arts.

Donations to support the Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition are tax deductible and can be made by check payable to the Island Symphony Orchestra (ISO), the authorized Fiscal Sponsor for the Competition organization, subject memo Bach Competition.
